Himachal tourism promises to be the most beautiful and
wonderful sights in the great Indian continent. Nothing can compare to the
tremendous beauty and stunning atmosphere of Himachal which attracts lakes
of tourists from around the world every year.
Himachal is known for its amazing historical reputation. The
oldest known inhabitants of Himachal tribe called DASA. Later, Aryans came and
they included in the tribes. In later centuries, the hill leaders accepted
suzerainty of the Mauryan empire, the Kaushans, the Guptas and Kanuaj rulers.
During the Mughal period, the Rajas of the hill states have some mutually
agreed arrangements that governed their relations.
In the 19th century, Ranjit Singh annexed / topic many of
the states. When the British came, they defeated Gorkhas and treaties with some
Rajas and annexed the kingdoms of others. The situation remained more or less
unchanged until 1947. After independence, 30 princely states of the area were
united and Himachal Pradesh was formed on 15 April 1948. With the recognition
of Punjab on November 1, 1966, certain areas belonging to it in Himachal
Pradesh. On January 25, 1971, Himachal Pradesh has a full-fledged State.
The state is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir on North, Punjab
on West and South-West, Haryana on South, Uttar Pradesh on South-East and China
on the East.
Most of the people in Himachal depend on agriculture for
livelihood. Many people derive their income from sheep, goats and other
livestock. Ninety percent of the people live in villages and small towns. Towns
usually terraced fields and small two storey houses with sloping roof. The
villages are mostly self-contained with a few shops to take care of basic
necessities of life. Most villages have a temple, where people congregate for
worship. In many parts of the Himachal the village Gods are carried on
palanquins to village fairs. On Dussehra the largest congregation of village
Gods takes place at Kullu.
The folk songs of Himachal Pradesh are full of charm and is
mostly based on a religious or a romantic theme. People gather in a circle in
village fairs and dance to the beat of the songs. The dance is usually
spontaneous during a village fair and is a symbol of infinite peace and joy in
their lives. You will be pleased to find that people of Himachal Pradesh are
honest, sincere, friendly, good-humored.
